Julep’s Rivet Nail Appliques

There are a lot of Nail Appliques out there and I’ve tried a few over the last few months but I have to say I’m just not a fan.  It’s not that the designs aren’t great it’s just the idea of having stickers on my nails that dosen’t sit well with me.

Well, in one of my Julep Maven Mystery Boxes I received their Rivet Nail Appliques. I was actually pretty excited when I saw them in my box because I was headed to Vegas that weekend and thought they would be a great choice. Unfortunately, like all nail appliques, these didn’t last long. I thought they were a great look and wish I would have left them along but like I always do with appliques, they were peeled off within the day.

If you can handle appliques these are a great choice!

April Julep Maven Mystery Box

This week I received my April Julep Maven Mystery Box! It’s always a great day when i receive nail mail and my Julep box contained lots of goodies!

The one thing that’s missing in the second picture is all the chocolate that was included in my box.  It was very yummy and a great mid-day treat.

Julep’s Melissa

This is a beautiful sheer opalescent color that is a great spring color when worn along but I can’t wait to try it on top of another color for an added pop.

Julep Heather

Platinum coffee color.  This dosen’t look great with my skin tone but it is a great color for the right person.

I also received a Julep’s Alicia in this box but I don’t have my swatches ready.  I’ve worn this color before and it’s one of my favorites especially for spring and summer. It’s a great base for flower stamping.

One top of these swatches I am wearing the Julep Fast Drying top Coat that was sent in my mystery box.  I was really impressed with the sheen that it added to my polish and with how fast it dried.

All in All I was very happy with my mystery box!

Tinsel Nails

The hottest thing in nail art right now is Caviar Nails.  Unfortunately I’ve had a difficult time getting my hands on the actual product.  I’ve seen on many blog sites that other nail art enthusiast have found similar beads at Michael’s Craft Store however, I opted for JoAnnes, which I discovered does not have the same supplies.  I did however stumble upon Martha Stuart’s crafting supplies which had something I though would make for an interesting effect.

Tinsel Glitter!

Martha Stuart’s Tinsel Glitter was filled with 12 Amazing Colors but it was slightly expensive.  This box with run you about $24.00.

For this look I choose the orange tinsel and put it over Zoya’s Kaufda, a beautiful metallic copper polish.

This was a pretty simple, but slightly messy, process.

First I painted all my nails with one coast of Kaufda. Once that dried I painted one nail with a second coat. I wanted about 5 to 10 seconds and then sprinkled the tinsel glitter on top. Once I did this with all 10 nails I went through and cleaned up all the edges.

So what do you think?

Bargains Galore

Two days ago I went to pick up some polish at my local beauty supply store a friend’s birthday. When entering the store I told myself that I was only buying for her, well…  my plan didn’t work.  As soon as I walked in, I went to the Zoya isle, because who wouldn’t, and found 10 of their polishes HALF OFF.  I actually squealed a little.  I ended up walking out with 2 polishes for myself.  Here is a picture of one of the bargain purchases,  Zoya’s Colette

Please excuse the terrible paint job.  This was done very late last night after an 11 hour work day.

Zoya’s Colette is a beautiful shimmery copper brown with orange undertones.  This would have been a great color to wear to an Oscar Party.

I will be posting more pictures of my other finds soon.

Julep Mystery Box

I know it’s been some time since I last posted but that’s all about to change. Yesterday afternoon I received my Julep Maven Mystery Box! Not sure what that is, well, it’s the best thing a polish lover could ask for!

The way it works, you pay $19 for a box filled with at least $60 worth of goodies.  You have no idea what’s in it until it arrives at your door.

Drum Roll Please…

Julep Maven

Julep Maven Mystery Box

Mine was filled with 8 Polishes, cuticle oil, nail strengthening oil (I think this might be my new favorite thing), silver nail decorations, hair spray, nail appliques, and Lip Gloss! I almost passed out when I opened my mystery box last night. I didn’t expect all of that.

Here are a few color swatches I did from my mystery box.

First up I have Julep’s Demi.

Julep’s Demi is a deep creamy red that is absolutely perfect for Valentines Day.  If you’ve been looking for a classic red polish this is the one for you.

Next up I have Julep’s Helena.

Helena is a beautiful deep fuchsia color that has a cream finish.  I am very pale and this color looks great on.  It think it would look equally as great on someone with a tan.

I will be posting more pictures soon of the other great colors I received in my Julep Maven Mystery Box so make sure you check back soon.

Polish Poll

There are so many polish choices out there these days and sometimes its hard to choose which one your in the mood for. When I can’t decide I always lean towards my favorite type of polish that’s good for any occasion, Cream Polishes! So, which one is your favorite?

Let me know if I’ve left your favorite one off the list.

Gorramit

My new favorite polish is Nerd Lacquer and the color of the moment, for me at least, is Gorramit .  I was very excited when I got my shipment from Harlow and Co  on Friday and I was even more excited when I painted my nails Friday night.

Gorramit is a beautiful yellow polish with tiny gold and red flecks and larger red square glitter pieces. Gorramit and Shiny were the talk of my office when they arrived and I already have a list of co-workers who want to try them out.

I had a very eventful weekend and this polish held up better than I could have wished.  I went hiking, dog sat, and did the touristy thing in Hollywood with some visiting friends.  The polish didn’t chip once! Everyone should own a least one Nerd Lacquer polish but beware, once you own one, you will want to own them ALL!

Here are a few pics from my action packed weekend and Gorramit makes a few appearances.

Nerd Lacquer Arrived Today!

Its FRIDAY and it’s been a long and tiring week. As I was counting down my remaining minutes of the day and little packaged arrived at my office. My Nerd Lacquer Polish from Harlow and Co. is here!

My order shipped out Tuesday from Canada and arrived in California on Friday! I couldn’t have been happier with the shipping time!

The colors I chose for this order were Nerd Lacquer’s Gorramit and Shiny.

Gorramit is a mustard yellow with beautiful gold flecks and red glitter flakes.

Shiny is a soft blue polish with large and small square silver and gold flakes

Tonight I plan on trying Gorramit and before the weekend is over I will be painting my nails with Shiny.

Zoya Lola

Recently I discovered my new favorite store, Ace Beauty Supply Salon and Supply. Not only is it less than a mile from my home it also contains almost every Zoya polished made. Of course I picked up a few polishes, ok really it was 5 polishes. The one that I was most excited to try was Zoya’s Lola. This is a beautiful fuchsia-pink with a hint of an iridescence blue-violet shimmer. I’ve been wearing it for two days now and I have zero chips!

Here are some swatches of this beautiful, super feminine, color

Visited a local beauty supply store and was pleasantly surprised to find a very large selection of Zoya Polish. Needless to say, I did not walk away empty handed.
